Who I am
My website address is: https://katestradling.com. This site belongs to Kate Stradling, author, and it hosts my online writing-related content including book listings and blog articles. A subdomain, https://eulaliaskye.com, acts as the landing page for Eulalia Skye Press, my book imprint and DBA.
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, the site in turn collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.(I’m not sure how you would upload an image here, but this is a good rule of thumb for all of us to live by anyway. Be safe out there.)
Contact forms
When you sign up to receive my monthly newsletter, my newsletter provider (currently MailerLite; see “Who I share your data with” below) collects and stores the email address you submit. A double opt-in process confirms your subscription to the mailing list. You may unsubscribe via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each newsletter.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit the login page, it will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data. It is discarded when you close your browser.
But really, you guys, I’m the only one with a login, so if you’re not me and you’re at the login page, GET OFF THAT PAGE AND GO ABOUT YOUR OWN BUSINESS.

My hosting company, Web Hosting Hub, also logs IP addresses for site visitors. There is no personal information attached to this process.
Who I share your data with
I distribute my newsletter through a third-party service provider, MailerLite, who stores my list of subscriber email addresses. They do not share, sell, or rent your data to anyone. You can read their privacy policy here: https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, this website will retain the comment and its metadata indefinitely. This allows the site to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
